The Foo Fighters are one of the biggest rock bands in the world, so Foo fans will definitely want to snap up this box set of 50 limited edition prints of Dave Grohl and the boys.
The pictures were taken by John McMurtrie, a well-respected music and concert photographer who’s also the official lensman for veteran Brit-metal warhorses, Iron Maiden.
We caught up with John to find out how it all came about.

‘Doing a box set is a great way of releasing a multiple pictures and a fantastic way of telling an artist’s story as a retrospective,’ says the ever-affable John.
‘This particular box set of Dave Grohl/Foo Fighters has 20 years of various photo shoots going back as far as 1997, including collaborations with Queens of the Stone Age, Ghost and Them Crooked Vultures.’

‘Every box is numbered by hand and each set includes a personalised, hand signed letter of authenticity which details the location and date of each print and behind the scenes details,’ John adds. ‘It is the ultimate piece of music memorabilia.’

‘With the Foo Fighters I was privileged to photograph many pinnacle moments in their career so I felt it would work well and I am immensely proud of how it came together. Because of the exhaustive amount of work it takes to put each set together, there has to be a limit. The Foo Fighter edition is only 50 units.’

So what is John’s favourite picture? ‘The 14 that make it into the box set are real stand out shots so I can honestly say I love every photo that makes the cut,’ he muses.
‘That said, there is one photograph of the band at the 606 studio in Los Angeles that hits hard. They are on a break from recording the album ‘In Your Honor’. It is a B&W shot of all four members sitting on a flight case and Dave is lighting a cigarette whilst the late Taylor Hawkins is laughing. It sums up how happy the entire band are and it is a moment that makes you forget they are posing for a photo.’
