Don McCullin with last year’s winner, Merryn Fawssett
The annual competition aims to ‘profile the positive effects of faith within a diverse range of communities’.
Organisers of the not-for-profit contest – supported by the Congregational & General Charitable Trust – say images from smartphones and tablets are welcome.
The Trust’s Stuart Young said: ‘The judges are looking for an original and creative image that stands out and encapsulates faith.
‘The image could depict a moment of faith, community sprit against the odds or illustrate a community hero.’
The overall winner of Faith Through a Lens will bag up to £1,000 of audio visual and/or photographic equipment.
The 10 finalists will be invited to an awards ceremony in London on 13 November to meet photographer Don McCullin who will critique each of the shortlisted entries.
The three winning entrants will be asked to nominate a UK charity, faith or community group to receive up to £1,000 worth of gear.
