The photographic industry has voted Amateur Photographer (AP) ?Best Consumer Magazine? in prestigious awards organised by UK trade magazine Pixel.

AP beat a host of rival publications to take the accolade.

Commenting on the news, AP?s Editor Damien Demolder said: ?We won because camera retailers, mini-labs, distributors and camera manufacturers all used their votes to say that AP is the best consumer magazine in the UK. They think AP is more relevant, up to date, believable and entertaining than any other magazine.?

AP?s publishing director Alex Robb added: ?This is a very well-deserved accolade for the magazine and everyone involved with it. Congratulations on a great team effort.?

Damien continued: ?I am extremely proud of what this award means. The photographic trade could have voted for any other magazine ? and we all know how many there are now ? but the people who run photo companies in this country think the quality of AP is better than that of our competitors.?

The 2007 Pixel Trade Awards trophy was presented to Damien by former British tennis player Annabel Croft at the Waldorf Hilton hotel in central London.
