The opportunity to view and capture the breathtaking Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights, as you journey north to the edge of Canada’s vast wildernes, taking in the Rocky Mountains’ most stunning natural wonders, accompanied by experts are all highlights of this tremendous value, interest packed, escorted photography tour.

First, you’ll fly west to Calgary, gateway to the Rocky Mountains, and spend two nights in Banff. You will have time to capture images and benefit from inspiring advice for achieving amazing photos. There will be optional-extra excursions too!

Then, you’ll journey by coach past beautiful Lake Louise and along the Icefields Parkway into Jasper National Park, to stay overnight in Jasper.

From here, you’ll journey east to Edmonton, Alberta, the frontier trading city built on the banks of the North Saskatchewan River, then go north to remote Fort McMurray. Here, beneath the ‘Auroral Oval’, there’s an excellent chance of being able to capture the heavenly spectacle, as well as the opportunity to enjoy some ‘wilderness activities’ and to visit the Athabasca Oil Sands Discovery Centre. 

Finally, you’ll visit the monumental West Edmonton Mall, before you fly back.

Itinerary

Day One Fly west to Calgary, and upon arrival meet your Tour Manager, Photography experts and board the coach for the scenic journey into the Rocky Mountains for a two-night stay in Banff.
Day Two Spend today in awestruck exploration of this stunning location, taking opportunities to join memorable optional excursions, which include a cable car ride to the summit of Sulphur Mountain, a trip to the breathtaking Surprise Corner viewpoint and an unforgettable Helicopter Ride. Don’t miss the iconic Banff Springs Hotel, framed against its stunning mountain backdrop.  
Day Three Board the coach to journey to photograph Lake Louise, and continue along the renowned Icefields Parkway and on into the Jasper National Park, to spend the night in Jasper itself.  
Day Four Spend the morning in the delightful surrounds of the small town of Jasper, nestled amongst beautiful mountain scenery. This afternoon, journey on to Edmonton. Dependent upon your arrival time, enjoy the evening in the beautifully preserved Old Strathcona district, the city’s historic heart.
Day Five Today you’ll travel into the ancient boreal forest that separates the frozen tundra of the north from the southern plains, to remote Fort McMurray, a fun-loving city on the edge of the Wood Buffalo region, and a gateway to a natural wonderland. During your two-night stay you’ll have the opportunity to head out to the Aurora Viewing Site from where, clear skies permitting, the celestial wonders might be seen. With a photographer to help capture the moment, an astronomer to explain the phenomenon, and a warm shelter with hot drinks and snacks, this is the perfect place to enjoy one of nature’s most amazing sights.
Day Six Another unforgettable day awaits in Fort McMurray. Optional tours include the chance to experience the Arctic wilderness in the company of a local guide, and a visit to the Athabasca Oil Sands Discovery Centre, which tells the story of the exploitation of Alberta’s vast bitumen reserves. Enjoy another evening of sky-gazing, before you return to the hotel.  
Day Seven Returning south, today you’ll visit the world famous West Edmonton Mall, formerly the world’s, and still North America’s largest indoor shopping, leisure and entertainment complex. With its vast range of stores and speciality outlets, food outlets, seacaverns, water parks, Galaxyland adventurepark, multiplex cinemas and even an indoor miniature golf course, the mall is a fascinating attraction, and the perfect place to pick up a souvenir of your time in Alberta. You’ll spend the last evening in Edmonton.  
Day Eight Today you’ll travel back to Calgary, making your way to the airport for the return overnight flight, at the end of a fun and interest-packed holiday in a truly beautiful, truly absorbing part of the great country of Canada.  
Day Nine Arrive back in the UK.
