The 2013 Open category was won by Hoang Hiep Nguyen from Vietnam.
However, there were no UK entrants among this year’s category winners.
Norwegian photographer Andrea Gjestvang took the $25,000 professional title with her portraits of people who survived the country’s terror atrocities in 2011.
This year’s Open section comprises 10 categories, each to be judged on a single image.
The 2013 contest pulled in more than 120,000 entries.
The closing date for the Open competition is 6 January 2014.
