The internet has been rife with rumours of the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV for the past few months and now it has officially been released. The EOS 5D Mark IV ditches the 22.3-million-pixel CMOS sensor as used within the EOS 5D Mark III and introduces an all-new 30.4-million-pixel full frame CMOS sensor that’s never been seen before in a Canon DSLR. The introduction of the new sensor brings an improved ISO range (100-32,000 that’s expandable to 50-102,400) and Dual Pixel raw – a unique feature to the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV that’s designed to allow users to fine-tune the position of maximum sharpness in post-processing. Many other refinements and improvements have been made and more information about the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV’s new features can be found by reading our Canon EOS 5D Mark IV hands on first look review.
Prior to its official launch, we had the opportunity to get hands on with one of the first working beta samples. Unfortunately no working samples of the newly announced Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 L II USM (£,1,129) or Canon EF 16-35mm f2.8L III USM (£2,349) were available at the time so the camera was coupled with a selection of other lenses made available to us from Canon. Please note all images were taken in the Large/Fine JPEG file format and have been resized to 90% or less of their original size – at the request of Canon.
