The EOS-1D X Mark II uses a 20.2-million-pixel full frame CMOS sensor, with a sensitivity range of ISO 100-51,200, extendable to ISO 50-409,600. Designed for sports and action photographers, it’s capable of 14 fps shooting, or 16 fps in live view. An all-new 61-point autofocus system includes 41 cross-type points for accuracy, while Canon’s exclusive Dual Pixel AF allows focusing in live view and movie mode. Internal 4K 60fps video recording is also available in this £5199 camera.
As it’s a camera designed for demanding action shooting, we decided to put it into the hands of professional sports photographer Nick Dungan, to see what it’s capable of when used for its primary purpose. The images below were all shot at the FIA World Endurance Championship at Silverstone in April 2016. These images have been processed from raw using Adobe Camera Raw, including such things as tone adjustments and cropping.
