Olivia Whitfield from Leeds College of Art in West Yorkshire has been named Ilford Photo Student Photographer of the Year 2015.
The competition, which pulled in around 1,000 entries, adopted the theme ‘Saturday Night at the Movies’.
Olivia used Ilford HP5+ film for her print entitled ‘Amelia’s love’.
Runner-up prizes in the Darkroom category were awarded to Erin Quinn from West Herts College, Edward Alabaster from Anglia Ruskin University; and Sian Lewis and Emma Lyman from Leeds College of Art.
Meanwhile, Mark Boulton from Leicester College was crowned Harman technology Student Photographer of the Year 2015 for his shot called ‘Casino Royale’. Mark won the Digital category.
Ilford Photo is the trading name of Cheshire-based firm Harman technology Ltd.
Harman technology’s managing director Peter Elton said: ‘The image composition and creativity on show in these entries was tremendously impressive. Not only in the worthy winners, but in many, many others.
‘It’s exciting to see that the current crop of budding photographers has the potential to reach the top.
‘I am also very pleased that they clearly continue to receive College and University tuition of the highest quality.’
