The Amateur Photographer Awards have recognised the best photographic equipment for 38 years. The winners of the 2015 Amateur Photographer Awards were announced on 5th February.
The Awards were split into different categories for cameras, software, printers, accessories, lenses etc as well as the Good Service Awards for retailers. This recognises retailers who have been commended as giving great sales and after sales service.
There was also a grand prize for the all important Amateur Photographer Reader Nominated Product of the Year.
Two personal awards were presented to those who have produced exceptional photography and contributed greatly to photography with a Power of Photography award and an Exceptional Achievement in Photography award.

The winners of the 2015 Amateur Photographer Awards are as follows:
Power of Photography – Benjamin Von Wong
The Power of Photography award highlights photographers who we feel have carved out their own individual style and made a mark on the field of photography. Those whose work stands out from the crowd and stops us in our tracks. Benjamin von Wong’s hyper-realistic style combines special effects and innovative concepts, and strikes a strange balance between ethereal and dynamic. For an example of this you need look no further than his hauntingly beautiful images of models under water.

Exceptional achievement in photography – Rene Burri
What makes a true icon of photography? It’s a difficult question to answer, but perhaps it is when the photographers’ images become a part of public consciousness. While Swiss born Magnum photographer Rene Burri may not necessarily be a household name, show anyone his famous Che Guevara portrait, or his striking image of four suited figures on top of a Sao Paulo skyscraper in Brazil, and you will immediately see just how familiar these images are, even to people with only a cursory knowledge of photographic history. Burri truly was one of the great post-war photographers and it is with that in mind that we present to his memory a posthumous award celebrating his exceptional contribution to photography.
