The Nikon European Film Festival challenges amateur and professional filmmakers to create a video of up to 140 seconds in length, on the theme ‘A Different Perspective’.
A spokesman for the organisers said: ‘Every filmmaker can convey something different about the same experience.
‘Within this theme entrants are asked to define perspective as a combination of their attitude towards a subject, their relationship to the story being told and the physical position from which they observe it.’
Judges say they are looking for the best story ‘told from a unique perspective’, combined with ‘the most creative use of kit’.
A Nikon D750 will be awarded to the filmmaker behind the Best Film as Voted for by the Public; the Best Student Entry; and winners of the Best Narrative and Technical Excellence categories.
Films must be in English or have English subtitles, no shorter than 30 seconds, and recorded in HD format.
The awards will be judged by a panel led by film director Asia Argento (pictured), a former actress who recently spoke about the competition in an interview with Amateur Photographer.
The project is being organised in association with Raindance and is open to all ages. Under 16s must provide written consent on request.
The winner will receive a Nikon D810 and a trip to the Cannes Film Festival in May 2015, as a guest of Raindance.
