Will UK’s first 5MP camera phone put compacts in the shade?

Consumers can now leave their digital compact cameras at home say the makers of the first five-million-pixel camera phone to go on sale in the UK.

Due to hit UK shops in the next few days the LG KG920?s features include the ability to twist the camera up to 180º, a 4x digital zoom, a flash range of 1.5m and a built-in MP3 music player.

?Consumers no longer need to carry a separate digital camera,? claimed LG Mobile?s sales and marketing director John Barton. ?This not only benefits keen photographers who want to travel light but also sets a precedent for all future camera phones.?

The KG920 kit will include a 256MB memory card and is due out in early August. It will be available through The Carphone Warehouse, on a contract-only basis.
