Lexmark has refused to confirm whether or not it has stopped producing ?dedicated? photographic printers, fuelling speculation it has pulled out of this market.
The direction of Lexmark?s future policy was thrown into doubt following a remark by a source close to the company, who suggested that Lexmark is now focusing solely on all-in-one printers.
Afterwards, Lexmark?s European PR manager Lisa Canning told us that the company was not planning to withdraw from the photography market.
She declined to discuss future developments but was keen to stress that the company?s all-in-one range includes photography features.
?All of Lexmark’s products are designed with productivity in mind, and photo functionality is very important to our customers. That’s why almost our entire product line has photo features, including PictBridge, card slots and borderless printing,? she said.
?We ensure we meet the market needs by providing a complete solution for the home user, including photo features, wireless, fax, copying and duplex printing,? she added. ?Beyond that, we do not comment on future product plans.?
