Sony has put an end to cyberspace speculation by confirming the October launch of the A500 and A550 digital SLRs.
The Alpha 500 and Alpha 550 feature 12.3MP and 14.2MP Exmor CMOS imaging sensors respectively.
A new Auto HDR mode aims to ensure the photographer is able to capture a wide range of highlight and shadow detail.
The A550 boasts a claimed maximum burst rate of seven frames per second.
UK prices have yet to be confirmed.
A Sony spokesman claimed: ‘Serious enthusiasts will prize the camera’s fast, high-accuracy autofocus system that provides excellent framing freedom, while making it easier to achieve optimum focus with moving subjects.’
