Nikon D4 delaySome photographers who order Nikon’s flagship professional D4 DSLR, face a delivery delay, Nikon has confirmed.

In a statement Nikon UK told Amateur Photographer (AP) today: ‘Due to overwhelming popularity of, and demand for, the D4, we will not be able to fulfil all order quantities in time for the agreed sales start date.

‘Please be assured that we’re working incredibly hard to prepare the orders and we will deliver them as soon as we can without compromising on quality.’

At the time of writing, there was no official word on when those who now face a delay can expect to receive their new camera.

Nikon has yet to comment on rumours that the D4 has been hit by a firmware bug.

At its unveiling last month Nikon said it expected the D4 to be available from 16 February, ahead of its rival, the Canon’s EOS-1D X which is not due to go on sale until March. However, the D4 press release, issued on 6 January, stated that this date had yet to be confirmed.

Nikon’s US office has also confirmed a delay, according to a report HERE
