The Panasonic TZ70, announced at CES Las Vegas this year, is the successor to the popular TZ60 travel compact. You can read our first look of the TZ70 here and our full review of the TZ60 here. The series began with the TZ1 back in 2006, and has since been associated with high quality zoom cameras small enough to fit in your pocket.
The TZ70 retains several key features and specs from what’s gone before, most notably the 24-720mm equivalent lens, which includes optical image stabilisation. The sensor is still the same size as that of the TZ60 – 1/2.3in type – but interestingly its resolution has dropped to 12-million pixels. Panasonic says this is done with the intent of providing better high-ISO image quality. You can judge for yourself by scrolling through the images in our Panasonic TZ70 sample image gallery.
The built-in electronic viewfinder is higher resolution than that of the TZ60, at 1,166k dot compared to the TZ60’s 200k-dot, and the rear LCD is now a 1,040k-dot model.
The camera also features a 240fps autofocus sensor, for snappy focusing. As is standard these days, the TZ60 comes with built-in Wi-fi connectivity, for remote control and image sharing with a smartphone or tablet, and it also features NFC. While it does shoot Full HD video (1920 x 1080 px, it does not feature the option to do so in 4K like many other recent Panasonic cameras.
The TZ70 will be available in March with an RRP of £349.99.
