Motorola kept quiet for some time despite circulating rumours about new additions, but at CES 2026, it officially revealed two completely new categories to its flagship offering. The first-ever Motorola Fold phone was introduced alongside a new Motorola Signature line dubbed ultra-premium flagship. With Motorola’s push into the fold phone territory, the industry is left wondering: how much longer can Apple wait to join the foldable fray?

As the Fold is scheduled for release sometime over the summer in 2026, Motorola only teased a few specs. In terms of photography, it may be equipped with the same advanced cameras as the brand new slim-line Signature device. What’s confirmed is three 50MP cameras, and based on the signature’s specs, these could mean: a main lens backed by a 1/1.28″ f/1.6 Sony Lytia 828 sensor, an ultrawide lens with f/2.0 aperture, autofocus OIS and macro support and a periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and an f/2.4 Sony Lytia 600 Sensor that has OIS and macro support.

As for selfies, the Signature comes with a 50MP, f/2.0 Sony Lytya 500 sensor with autofocus, but the Fold’s design warrants two selfie cameras, and Motorola confirmed a 20MP one on the large inner display and a 32MP one on the front. The Signature supports 8K30 video with Dolby Vision and FHD 240p slow-motion recording, so it’s likely to be implemented in the future Fold too.

We also know that the 2K LTPO inner display unfolds to a large 8.09-inch size. Similar screen sizes seem to be a standard among other foldable phones like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold. While the Tecno PHANTOM V Fold and Honor Magic V5 is ever so slightly smaller. When it comes to its thickness, however, that is something under tight wraps; maybe we will know more in March, during the next big tech event of the year, the Mobile World Congress held in Barcelona.

The flamboyant Razr Flip already won over many hearts with their colourful design; we can expect the same Pantone-validated colours and vegan leather finish from these devices too. Luxurious Pantone Blackened Blue and Pantone Lily White colour options are available for the Fold.

Prices are not yet available for the Motorola Fold, but the Signature goes on sale in the UK this February from £899.99, and will be available in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage variants. If the new Motorola Fold will be as impressive as the Edge 70 and the new Signature line, Apple will have some serious competition to catch up to.
