I know those are pretty big words, but trust me, you won’t be immune to its charms either. As one of the most anticipated phone releases of 2026, the Find X9 Ultra received a lot of attention and speculation, but today it was officially revealed in Chengdu, China. A fitting location for the event, given its history as a major trade point on the famous Silk Road that brought exotic and exciting goods to Europe and the rest of the World. Now it brings the Find X9 Ultra to the global market, as previous versions of this impressive flagship phone were only available in China.
Unlike Apple or Samsung, the updates to this headliner are not incremental. All four rear cameras and the colour sensor received substantial updates, in some cases by adding a physically bigger sensor, or boosting resolution. OPPO has developed a new type of periscope telephoto technology to create the World’s first 10x optical telephoto camera with 50MP by essentially folding the light’s path to achieve longer focal lengths and simultaneously keep size at bay.
OPPO Find X9 Ultra at a glance:
- 200MP 1x main camera, Sony LYT-901 1/1.12”, f/1.5, 23 mm
- 200MP 3x telephoto camera, 1/1.28”, f/2.2, 70mm, OIS
- 50MP 10x optical telephoto camera, 1/2.75” with up to 20x digital zoom, 230mm, OIS
- 50MP 0.6x ultra-wideangle camera, 1/1.95”, f/2, 14mm, AF
- 50MP front camera
- 6.8” QHD+ 144Hz display
- Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5
- 7050mAh battery, 100W charge
- 8K30p/4K120p video
The main and secondary telephoto cameras are now 200MP, while the ultrawide and selfie units are upgraded to 50MP. With the combination of these four lenses, the Find X9 Ultra covers a huge focal range between 14mm and 2758mm or 0.6x to 120x magnification. But this can be further extended with the new 300mm Hasselblad teleconverter, which gives you 30x optical zoom, and by digitally cropping it could achieve even 600mm or above.
This teleconverter comes in the new Earth Explorer Kit inspired by the limited edition Hasselblad X2D Earth Explorer camera. Professionals use Hasselblad for its incredible image quality and colour fidelity, and the Find X9 Ultra is the first phone to achieve a Natural Hasselblad Colour Solution, delivering true to life colours. The kit also includes a new case, which isn’t just a cool accessory to protect your phone but also adds camera-like handling to it. It features a handgrip with a built-in battery, a two-stage shutter button and a zoom switch. You can snap on any standard 67mm filter by using the filter adapter ring included, or attach the 300mm teleconverter.
OPPO listened to their camera enthusiasts who snub AI processing and improved the Hasselblad Master mode with a new imaging pipeline which is completely separate from other automatic modes and uses Zero generative AI. By using real time triple exposure HDR it retains more highlight and shadow detail too. There are 9 new film simulations and an option to create and save your own presets and capture your photos in 50MP JPEG max or 50MP RAW Max with 16-bit colour depth.
Video-wise, this is OPPO’s highest specced phone to date, serving as a pro tool for vloggers and content creators with 8K30p video capture up to 18x magnification, or 4K120p to create smooth slow motion footage. You can shoot in O-Log2 and burn-in LUTs.
The collaboration with Hasselblad brought to life a device that’s narrowing the gap between smartphones and dedicated cameras, and one that finally makes you feel like you could leave your camera at home without regrets. The OPPO Find X9 Ultra will be available in the UK for £,1499 starting from 8th May in a Tundra Umber vegan leather finish or a Canyon Orange finish with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. Unfortunately, it won’t be officially sold in the US market.
