Singer George Michael has been jailed for eight weeks after crashing his car into a London branch of Snappy Snaps while under the influence of drugs, according to press reports.
Michael, 47, was sentenced today at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court where he was banned for driving for five years and ordered to pay a £1,250 fine, plus £100 costs and a £15 ‘victim surcharge’.
He had pleaded guilty to driving while unfit through drugs and possessing two cannabis cigarettes.
The singing legend was arrested after driving his car into the Snappy Snaps in Hampstead, London in the early hours of 4 July.
The Wham! star’s Range Rover caused minor damage to the shop’s front window and door (see above).
Speaking shortly after the incident, a Snappy Snaps spokeswoman told Amateur Photographer that it would welcome the singer back to its Hampstead store – but preferably when it is open for business.
The Hampstead shop is visited by a number of celebrities in the area who ask Snappy Snaps staff to keep their identities confidential.
