OM System has announced the OM-3 Astro camera, based on the existing OM-3 but featuring an enhanced infrared cut filter for capturing deep-sky objects. The company claims this enables near 100% Hα transmission for vivid red nebula capture. Other key features include TruePic X image processor delivering high-sensitivity astrophotography performance, a High Res Shot stacking mode producing 50MP images with enhanced detail and reduced noise, dedicated astrophotography colour profiles and custom modes for easy night sky shooting.
There are also advanced in-camera tools including Starry Sky AF, Live Composite, Timelapse, and Night Vision mode for long-exposure imaging, as well as USB-C PD charging meaning you can use a power bank to keep the camera powered for extended exposure photography. The OM System OM-3 Astro goes onsale at the end of the month for $2,499 / £1,899. More details can be found at bit.ly/OM3astro
