Wildlife photographer and founder of the ‘Remembering Wildlife’ series of photography books Margot Raggett has been awarded an MBE in the King’s Birthday 2023 Honours List for services to international wildlife conservation.

Margot Raggett said it was ‘truly an honour’ to be recognised and that ‘This MBE is not just for me – it’s for my team, it is for all the talented wildlife photographers who have made the series possible and all our supporters who give us so much support and encouragement.’

Remembering Wildlife launched its first book, ‘Remembering Elephants’ in 2016. It started after Margot Raggett came face-to-face with a poached elephant in Kenya and began asking the world’s top wildlife photographers if they would donate an image for a book that could generate awareness of the plight facing elephants and raise funds to protect them. The eight book in the series, ‘Remembering Leopards,’ will launch on 9 October 2023.

Since then more than $1.3/ £1 million has been donated to 63 different conservation projects in almost 30 countries and Remembering Wildlife has acquired famous supporters including Pierce Brosnan, Michelle Pfeiffer, Ricky Gervais and Russell Crowe. More than 250 photographers have contributed images, including Art Wolfe, Frans Lanting, Brent Stirton, Tim Laman and Jonathan and Angela Scott.

Margot Raggett, the founder and producer of the acclaimed Remembering Wildlife series of collaborative fundraising photography books, has been awarded the MBE in the King’s Birthday 2023 Honours List for services to international wildlife conservation.

Since 2016, when Remembering Wildlife launched its first book, Remembering Elephants, more than £1 million GBP / $1.3 million USD has been donated to 63 different conservation projects in 27 countries, helping to improve the lives of many vulnerable and endangered species.

The series started after Margot Raggett came face-to-face with a poached elephant in Kenya and began asking the world’s top wildlife photographers if they would donate an image for a book that could generate awareness of the plight facing elephants and raise funds to protect them.

Seven books have been produced, each focusing on a different species. The eighth, Remembering Leopards, will launch on 9 October 2023. It will be the biggest book in the series to date, with 180 pages.

Along the way, Remembering Wildlife has acquired many famous supporters, including Pierce Brosnan, Michelle Pfeiffer, Ricky Gervais and Russell Crowe.

More than 250 photographers have generously contributed images, including Art Wolfe, Frans Lanting, Brent Stirton, Tim Laman and Jonathan & Angela Scott.

100% of profits from sales of Remembering Wildlife books go to supporting conservation projects.

About Margot Raggett

Margot Raggett left a corporate career in PR in London in 2010, to concentrate on her love of wildlife photography. She was a regular ‘Photographer in Residence’ at Entim Camp in the Maasai Mara and also led photographic safaris, before coming across a poached elephant in late 2014 led her to start the Remembering Wildlife project.

She is currently working on the 8th book in the Remembering Wildlife series, Remembering Leopards, which recently smashed all previous crowdfunding records on Kickstarter. The book will be published on 9 October 2023.
