Sigma has unveiled a new digital SLR in the shape of the SD15, incorporating a new image processing engine and 3in LCD monitor.
Though details were scant at the time of writing Sigma UK confirmed that, as expected, the SD15 will house the same 14-million-pixel Foveon X3 imaging sensor employed in the current SD14 model.
?The SD15 provides high resolution power and reproduces high definition images rich in gradation and impressive three-dimensional detail,? claims the firm.
A spokesman added: ?Photographers expressed a desire to incorporate the TRUE image processing engine – which is used in the DP1 – into a digital SLR camera.
?In order to meet this demand the SD15 ? with high-resolution direct image sensor ? has been designed around the new TRUE II image processing engine. This combination delivers superior image quality as well as improved processing speed, operation and performance.?
UK price and availability have yet to be confirmed.
