Photography enthusiast Keith Pointon has scooped a Gold award in the Royal Photographic Society?s International Projected Image Awards ? a contest also open to professional photographers.
Keith?s image entitled Sunrise at El Capitan came first in the Open Digital category and was one of more than 2,000 entries.
The 2008 contest was open to amateurs, students and professionals worldwide, who were invited to submit digital images and slides.
Phil Charnock won a Gold in the Open Slide category; Gerald Hall came top in the Nature Slide section; and Richard Revels bagged a Gold in the Nature Digital category.
The society has selected 191 photographers to feature in the resulting exhibition which will tour the UK and Republic of Ireland after its debut at the society?s Bath HQ on 9 November. The show will feature original slides and a projection of the best digital images.
An RPS spokesman said: ?The addition of a Nature Digital section this year resulted in a big rise in the number of digital entries, while the reduction in slide submissions echoes the continuing decline in photographers using slide film as a medium.?
