Spanish photographer Ricardo Garcia Vilanova – whose work has been published in UK newspapers such as The Guardian and The Times – was abducted on 16 September, according to the website of Spanish paper El Mundo.

He is being held by an ‘Al-Qaeda’-linked group, along with journalist Javier Espinosa, also from Spain.

The photographer also works as a video journalist for organisations including CNN, ITN and Channel 4, according to his website.
