Leica announced a new Noctilux-M 35mm f/1.2 ASPH lens to round out its existing ultra-fast primes. The new lens, hailed as the “pinnacle of optical craftsmanship” is the first 35mm in the Noctilux-M line which already features some of the world’s fastest aspherical lenses, such as the Noctilux-M 50mm f/0.95 and 75mm f/1.25.

The 35mm focal length provides a natural perspective ideal for portraits, reportage, and street photography. While its f/1.2 aperture offers exceptional speed and low-light performance, not to mention a dreamy, shallow depth of field.

The aspherical design allows for superior sharpness and clear, high-contrast images with a distinctive cinematic look. Its construction includes ten lenses in five groups, including a special floating element that ensures sharpness is maintained throughout the focus range—from its 50cm close-focusing distance to infinity. Unlike its f/0.95 sibling, which weighs 700g, the new 35mm f/1.2 ASPH is impressively compact and lightweight, measuring only 5cm in length and 6.5cm in diameter, and weighing 416g.

The Noctilux-M 35mm f/1.2 ASPH is available from Leica stores and official retailers for $9,650 / £7,700 / €8,950 with a lens cap sold separately for $95 / £70.
