Leica has put an end to speculation by unwrapping the V-Lux 20, a 12.1-million-pixel digital compact with a GPS tagging facility.
Due out in May priced £495, the V-Lux 20 features a 12x optical zoom designed to deliver the 35mm viewing angle equivalent of a 25-300mm lens.
Built-in GPS tagging allows photographers to record the geographic co-ordinates of their location in the Exif file data.
?In addition, the V-Lux 20 can display the names of interesting sightseeing locations from 500,000 points of interest across 73 countries? said a spokesman.
Also on board is an HD (1,280×720 pixel) movie mode and 3in LCD screen carrying a resolution of 460,800 pixel resolution.
The V-Lux 20 boasts manual control over shutter speed and aperture and will come in a kit that includes Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 imaging software.
