Jessops has shut down its store in Lisburn, Northern Ireland ? on profitability grounds ? telling photographers their nearest branch is more than eight miles away.

Local press described the move as ?another blow? to the city.

At the time of writing, it was unclear whether there will be job losses or if the five staff affected will be redeployed elsewhere.

In a statement Jessops said: ?Like any other retailer, Jessops constantly reviews the profitability of its stores, with leases that are due for renewal, to establish their ongoing viability.

?The lease for our Lisburn store has expired and it is unfortunate the store no longer meets the profitability criteria.

?Regrettably, the decision has been taken to close the store with immediate effect.?

Jessops thanked ?all the loyal customers of Lisburn who have shopped over the years?.

Customers are urged to visit the nearest Jessops store, at 19-21 High Street, Belfast, County Antrim BT1 2AA, or to order online at www.jessops.com
