In December, King Edward VI Aston School in Birmingham appealed for unwanted 35mm enlargers suitable for b&w printing as teachers went back to basics claiming that digital imaging had ‘deskilled’ photography.
The school’s plight was the subject of a news article in AP which has seemingly led to a flood of donations.
David Healey, photography tutor at the school, said: ‘The article generated a very positive and generous response from AP readers, so much so that the school my wife teaches at will be getting a darkroom as well… thank you.’
