Samsung has revealed an eight-million pixel digital camera with a 15x optical zoom called the Digimax Pro815.

Due for UK release in late August the Pro815 sports a 15x optical zoom Schneider-Kreuznach lens designed to deliver the equivalent of a 28-420mm lens on a 35mm film camera.

Expected to cost between £500 and 600 the camera boasts a continuous shooting rate of 2.5 frames per second and a 3.5in LCD screen – billed as the largest to be ever featured on a digital camera.

Features also include aperture and shutter priority, manual exposure control and manual focus.

Optional accessories will include external flash (SEF-42A).
