The contest – the 157th in RPS history – is also open to students and professionals.
The best images will be exhibited in a touring exhibition of 100 prints, set to kick off in July.
An RPS spokesman said: ‘Whether you are working digitally, using film or experimenting with more traditional processes, the competition is open and can include any subject matter…
‘Having a print in the exhibition gives recognition to photographers just starting out in their careers, provides enthusiasts with real pride and gives professionals exposure of their work.’
Initial entry for the International Print Exhibition is online.
Entrants can submit up to four images before the closing date of 18 March.
Previous exhibitors include renowned photographers such as Simon Roberts, early on in their careers.
This year’s judges include fine art photographer Tim Rudman and Marc Aspland, chief sports photographer for The Times.
