Hailed as the ‘biggest ever single-day crowd-sourced timelapse movie of London’, the project saw 40 amateur and professional photographers set out to capture the ‘beauty and diversity’ of London in a single day.
The video was compiled from 80 clips, featuring more than 35,000 photographs, captured in locations such as Tower Bridge and Camden Market, and the BBC newsroom in central London.
Helena Vieira, who is described as ‘head of happiness’ at Triggertrap, which organised the project, said: ‘Bringing together a whole bunch of photographers from different skill levels and seeing how everyone helped each other to create such awesome clips must be one of the most rewarding things I’ve done all year.’
The photographers began their journey at the King’s Cross headquarters of Triggertrap, which has also released a behind-the-scenes documentary about the event. This includes interviews with photographers who took part, and how they used timelapse photography.
Triggertrap CEO Haje Jan Kamps added: ‘The crazy thing about being a photographer is that your art has a huge audience, but when you are creating, you’re on your own, operating in a vacuum.’
Founded through a Kickstarter campaign in 2011, Triggertrap says its smartphone-based remote shutter release system, Triggertrap Mobile, has been download more than 750,000 times.
The timelapse project took place on 6 December 2014.
