Hasselblad has launched a limited-edition digital camera to mark 100 years since the birth of its Swedish founder Victor Hasselblad on 8 March 1906.
The company has produced 500 of the 503CWD cameras, each one numbered and engraved with the signature of Victor Hasselblad who died on 5 August 1978.
The first Hasselblad camera – the HK 7 – was born after the Swedish Air Force asked Victor to build an aerial surveillance camera identical to one recovered from a German reconnaissance plane shot down in Swedish airspace during the Second World War.
The new 503CWD Anniversary model uses a 16-million-pixel imaging sensor and is built from a black and chrome V System body. It will cost around £9,700.
The kit includes a 503CWD digital camera with waistlevel viewfinder, a specially marked focusing screen and chrome winding lever. It comes with a Carl Zeiss Planar CFE f/2.8 80mm lens and a book marking the anniversary.
