September will see the launch of the EOS 400D, a 10.1-million-pixel digital SLR camera that will sell for a body only price of around £650.
Positioned above Canon?s 8MP EOS 350D, Canon predicts that it will take the 350D?s lead as the ?fastest selling SLR of all time?.
Speaking at this morning UK press launch, Canon?s country director for UK and Ireland Alessandro Stanzani said Canon ‘welcomed’ the current competition in the digital SLR market place. ?We are confident we can maintain our leading position and continue to drive the market,? he claimed.
The 400D is the first SLR to feature the ?EOS Integrated Cleaning System’, using three ways of dealing with the problem of dust inside the camera – by reducing, repelling and removing it, according to Canon.
Improvements over the 350D also include nine-point AF (compared to the 350D?s 7 points) and a near doubling of the maximum number of shots in three frames per second burst mode from 14 to 27 JPEGs; and from five to 10 RAW images.
The EOS 400D will be available as a kit with an 18-55mm lens for £719.99. The body only price is £649.99.
