Sponsored. OM System has announced the exciting arrival of its latest mirrorless, feature-packed, Micro Four Thirds camera – the OM-5 Mark II. Compact, tough and ready for anything, it’s quite possibly the the best outdoor camera available for adventurers today. The OM-5 Mark II is an extremely light camera, ideal for a wide range of photographers that need to keep weight to a minimum, from casual hikers to mountaineers who want to document their journeys, memories and the incredible views.

OM-5 Mark II: steady as it goes
With hiking and travel photography in mind it’s perhaps no surprise that the OM-5 Mark II comes with some serious weather-sealing with its IP53 rating meaning it’s both splash- and dustproof. It can also withstand extreme cold climates down to -10ºC – so whatever the weather, you can rely on the OM-5 Mark II to continue shooting through rain, snow and even sandy trails.
It’s not always practical to pack a tripod to ensure sharp shots when undertaking an strenuous hike, but fortunately the OM-5 Mark II is rock-solid with its class-leading 5-axis sensor-based image stabilisation to keep your pictures and footage razor sharp while hiking, biking and even when shooting handheld in low light scenarios such as at dusk. Stabilisation is bolstered even further to 7.5EV when used together with compatible Sync IS lenses.
Adventure photographers will know the scramble for plug sockets and power at campsites all too well, and will be thrilled to hear that a new feature to the OM-5 Mark II is its USB-C port which enables charging on the go or, from a portable power bank.
Whether you’re tracking golden hour from a summit or making memories with your hiking crew, this camera captures it all effortlessly.

Look to the stars
If your idea of a good weekend involves fresh air and a trail map, this is the camera that keeps up. Gazing up at incredible dark skies when you’re in the wilderness is surely one of the best perks of camping, well now with OM System’s latest Starry Sky Autofocus feature you can easily lock on to stars with a single button press, while its Night Vision mode helps you to see the dark sky and foreground on your camera screen more clearly so you can achieve perfect framing even in total darkness.
The body of the new OM-5 has evolved from the earlier camera with a redesigned, more ergonomic grip, claiming to make it secure and comfortable to shoot with and very compact. Tipping the scales at 418g with a memory card and battery it’s also lighter than a 0.5L bottle of water, yet inside, packs a powerful 20MP Live MOS Micro Four Thirds sensor with on-chip phase detection and TruePix IX image processor so you never miss a moment.
Powerful computational and video features
The OM-5 Mark II has a dedicated CP button, which stands for Computational Photography and gives fast access to key features such as Live ND for achieving long exposure effects, Focus Stacking for creating super sharp macro shots or landscapes, Multiple Exposure mode plus a High Res feature that can produce detailed 50MP images handheld, or 80MP when shooting on a tripod. The CP button makes it easy to quickly activate these key modes and get shooting.
The OM-5 Mark II is also no slouch when it comes to video with the ability to record sublime high quality 4K 30p videos using new OM-Cinema video profiles and can even shoot Full HD slow motion clips at up to 120fp. Video is also uncapped with a limitless recording time and OM-Log400 is available.
