Sony has confirmed that it will release a new Cyber-shot digital compact camera, called the W180, in July.

The 10.1-million-pixel model packs in a 3x optical zoom, plus a top equivalent ISO of 3200.

Out in a choice of silver, black or red, features also include a 2.7in LCD screen and Face Detection which is claimed to recognise up to eight faces in a scene.

The camera’s Smile Shutter mode is designed to automatically capture smiling portraits.

A UK price has yet to be announced.
