The Bronine multi-brand battery charger is a somewhat unique charging system letting you plug in different charging blocks so you can charge batteries for different cameras all at the same time, with a dual charger and a quad charger available.
The charger uses an intelligent charging system, so that it can tell you how much capacity the battery has, when charged from empty. Using this you can assess the individual battery health, as you can compare the full charge value (mAh) against the manufacturers original rating.
Key Features
- Dual or Quad chargers are available supporting charging of two or four batteries respectively.
- Charging blocks can be snapped on and off, and simply click into place with magnets.
- The charger is powered by a USB Type-C cable, and will work with PD and QC chargers, meaning it will also work with portable USB chargers.
- Simplifies charging multiple batteries, as it can be powered from one USB cable.
You’ll need to use a PD or QC compatible USB charger and can buy these from bronine or use your own, however, it should output 45W or more if you want to charge 4 batteries at the same time. The minimum recommended power rating for a charger is 18W, however, this can only be used at a maximum speed with 4.4V batteries, otherwise slower charging speeds are given.
Almost all camera brands are supported (including Canon, Nikon, Sony, Olympus, Panasonic, Fujifilm), plus GoPro and DJI drones, as well as many camcorders, and there’s even support for cylindrical Li-ion batteries, and some compact cameras (such as Canon’s Powershot cameras). However, you’ll notice that Leica aren’t supported, nor are Pentax.
Charging speeds are good (when using a high-power charger), with the charger offering full charge in 81 minutes (1hour 21minutes), depending on the battery used*. *Example battery: NP-FW50 battery (7.2V, 1020mAh).
Charging speeds when batteries are charging in-camera, using a USB cable could be painfully slow, depending on your charging device and the camera you’re using.
In addition, this can tie up your camera so that you’re unable to use it, whereas by using the bronine charger, you can charge spare batteries, and keep shooting.
The main charging unit is well-built, with large rubber feet keeping it firmly in place when you have this on your desk. This helps when connecting the charging blocks as they can move around freely when not connected due to plastic feet.
