Wandrd is a relative newcomer to the photography market, but thanks their stylish, urban look and rugged construction, its backpacks have grabbed plenty of attention. Redesigned for 2021, the all-new Prvke 31 is well-sized for travelling with your camera. But if you need something even bigger, there’s the Prvke 41, while the Prvke 21 is more compact.
Available in black, green or blue, the Prvke 31 is sold by itself or as a ‘Photography Bundle’ that includes a customisable camera cube. The exterior is made from waterproof tarpaulin, which gives it a tough yet smart wipe-clean finish, and Robic 1680D ballistic nylon for durability.
Wandrd Prvke 31 V3 key features:
- Roll-top The roll-close top section means the capacity varies from 31 to 36L
- Chest strap The chest strap can fit close to your collar bone or lower, over your chest
- Rear-opening You need to take the pack off your back to open the main compartment fully
- Side-access A zip on the side gives access to part of the main compartment
- Secure pockets There are three zip-close pockets on the inside of the back section to keep small items safe
Although the backpack opens like a clamshell using the zip on its rear, there’s a roll-close top section which can be also accessed from within the main compartment via a zip. This rear opening design keeps your kit safe while you’re carrying it, but there’s a small side opening that’s large enough to access a camera or a lens when you’re on foot, without having to put the pack on the ground.
On the opposite side from this opening, there’s an expandable pocket that can be used to carry a drink bottle or a tripod. A clip-fastening strap above the pocket keeps the tripod secure against the side of the bag.
Wandrd has given the Prvke 31 a nice selection of useful pockets. Near the top of the shoulder straps, for example, there’s a fleece-lined pocket that’s ideal for keeping delicate items like your phone or spectacles safe, and on the side with the opening, there’s a pocket with a key-clip. Meanwhile, on the front of the bag, there’s a large flat pocket that’s handy for documents.
For added security, Wandrd has also concealed a pocket behind the luggage pass-through strap on the back of the pack. It’s perfect for keeping your passport and cash safe but within quick reach.
With a capacity of up to 36L, the Prvke 31 can carry a lot of gear, with a camera and 2-4 lenses (including a 70-200mm f/2.8) in the camera section. But the well-padded back and not-too-bulky shoulder straps make it comfortable to carry over long distances.
What’s in the Wandrd Prvke 31 Photography Bundle?
The Wandrd Prvke 31 is available by itself for £199, and it makes a good standard backpack, but the Photography Bundle is a better choice for photographers as it includes the Wandrd Essential+ Camera Cube, a waist strap and two accessory straps that can clip on any of the 8 attachment loops on the backpack.
If you need more camera-carrying capacity, there’s an optional Pro+ Camera Cube (£95) that fills the whole backpack.
Wandrd Prvke 31 V3 : Our Verdict
The Wandrd Prvke 31 has an excellent combination of uncluttered style, rugged construction with a wipe-clean finish and a selection of genuinely useful pockets. The roll-close top section is the icing on the cake that always seems to allow just one more thing to be squeezed in. Comfortable, capacious and smart, what more could you ask for?
