Chief among the new features of PortraitPro 12 is the new ‘face re-lighting’, soon-to-be patented technology which simulates the effect of smooth studio lighting on the subject.

Other effects include facial slimming, a new improved version of the blemish-removing skin enhancer and hair adjustment functions that allow a subject’s hair to be smoothed, thickened or recoloured.

Facial detection systems have been improved for PortraitPro 12. Anthropics claims that the software can now quickly and accurately identify facial features and can also detect the age and gender of faces in photographs.

This allows users to automatically apply appropriate enhancements to men, women and children.

Anthropics also claims that this latest version of the PortraitPro software is four times faster than its predecessor.

PortraitPro 12 is available in three versions: standalone PortraitPro12; PortraitPro Studio 12, which allows for integration with Lightroom, Aperture or Photoshop; and PortraitPro Studio Max 12, the top-end version which allows for mass batch processing of hundreds of images without the need for human intervention, thanks to its Automatic Batch Mode.

These three versions are currently available at discounted launch prices of £29.95, £49.95 and £99.95 respectively. Normal prices are £59.90, £99.90 and £199.90.
