Olympus Japan says its system cameras are among some of the products affected, but it has not detailed the models involved
Until now, Olympus has remained tight-lipped about the impact of the earthquakes which many other manufacturers said would affect production.
Olympus Japan has released a statement confirming that several suppliers of parts for its interchangeable-lens cameras, lenses and compact models have been hit.
However, there has been no direct damage to Olympus factories, adds the statement dated 1 June.
The company added: ‘It is likely that this will negatively impact production and sales of some Olympus imaging products. The exact scale of the impact is currently under investigation.’
