Nikon expanded its Z-mount lineup with the Nikkor Z 24-105mm f/4-7.1, a versatile and remarkably affordable compact zoom lens. Designed to be the ultimate travel companion, it is a small and lightweight optic that covers everything from wide landscapes to portraits and even detailed close-ups.

Nikkor Z 24-105mm f/4-7.1 at a glance:

  • Price: $549/£529

  • Min. focus: 20-28 cm
  • Max reproduction ratio: 0.5x (Half-macro)

By utilising a variable f/4-7.1 aperture Nikon managed to keep not just the cost but also the weight and size at bay. Weighing only 350g, it won’t weigh down your camera bag. The STM stepping motor offers silent autofocus while working together with Nikon’s latest subject detection modes.

While it is not a macro in the traditional sense with a 0.5x reproduction ratio it gets you pretty close to it. At its widest, 24mm it lets you get as close as 20cm while at the other end of the zoom range, at 105mm, it still enables 28cm. It also features a customisable control ring and basic weather sealing to protect against dust and moderate moisture.

The Nikkor Z 24-105mm f/4-7.1 will be available from 22 January 2026 for £529
