A ‘zine’ event is due to take place at the University of South Wales’ Atrium building in Cardiff on 20 October.
The all day event will look at the rise of the photo-zine, serving as a communicative medium its own right and being a valuable training ground in design and experimentation. You’ll be able to see a range of photo-zine examples, and attendees are encouraged to bring your own zines, magazines or book dummies.
Discussion, feedback and collaboration will be encouraged and photographers and zine creators of all levels are welcome to join, with the event being free to attend and open to all.
In the afternoon, a multi-disciplinary panel will discuss the important role that publishing plays in presenting words and pictures, as well as how publishing can help to deliver social and cultural dialogue.
Free copies of recent issues of Amateur Photographer will also be available during the day, on a first come first served basis.
Pictures on Pages is organised by USW Photography and Offline Journal in collaboration with Ffotogallery and USW Student Union. A social evening in the Student Union bar will take place after the event, with opportunities to win prizes and chat more. The following day, a Photo Book Fair will take place at Ffotogallery.
Both events are free to attend, with everyone welcome. Register for tickets and more information here.
