Conrad Lee from East Sussex won the Silver Award for his portrait of a theatre nurse.
Stephanie Ashley from Hertfordshire won the Bronze Award for a photograph entitled ‘Moving Out’.
And, following a public vote, Kate Fawcett from Scotland triumphed in the People’s Choice Award for her image ‘Musical Entertainment from a Hospital Bed’ (below).

Commenting on the submissions, RPS director general Michael Pritchard and one of the judges, said: ‘The judging process was a great opportunity for me to learn more about nursing in 2016 and to see some great photography.
‘All the entries to Care on Camera highlighted the different people who are nurses and the range of roles they undertake and, although my sister is a nurse, it emphasised the range of skills – technical and emotional – that they bring to their role – usually with a smile.’
Fellow judge Janet Davies, RCN chief executive and general secretary, said: ‘The standard of entries… was incredibly impressive.
‘These wonderful photographs showcase the dynamic and diverse reality of nursing in the 21st century and celebrate how far our profession has come in 100 years.’

Danny Mortimer, chief executive of NHS Employers (the competition’s sponsor), added: ‘The competition entries reflected nursing in all its diversity and captured the positivity that nursing staff feel about their profession and the care they provide to their patients.’
Judges also included BBC presenter Huw Edwards.
The winning images are set to tour the UK at venues including libraries and schools.
