Mark Tomlinson scooped the honours in a contest where thousands of photographers are judged on the consistency of their work on a monthly basis over the course of a year.
The photographer who notched up the most points over the 12 months was Tracy Willis who was crowned the Guild’s overall Photographer of the Year for 2012.
Beverley Foster triumphed in the Wedding category, while Charlotte Bellamy claimed All-Round Photographer of the Year, having scored the most points from any two categories combined.
Formed in 1988, the Guild of Photographers was originally known as the Guild of Wedding Photographers.
The awards were announced at a ceremony in Staffordshire earlier this week, attended by Guild members from across Europe.
