AgfaPhoto GmbH is set to close by the end of the year, as the insolvent company has failed to find a buyer, a spokesman has officially confirmed to AP. However, there is still a possibility that the company could be sold in separate parts to any interested parties.
Meanwhile, AgfaPhoto UK, which is a subsidiary of AgfaPhoto, has gone into administration and already shed more than 20 jobs. No-one at AgfaPhoto UK was available for comment.
AgfaPhoto – the former consumer imaging arm of Agfa – was sold to management and a group of financial investors in November 2004. It filed for insolvency in May this year, since which time it has continued to trade. AgfaPhoto?s products include photographic papers, film and chemicals.
AgfaPhoto spokesman Thomas Schulz said he did not expect the company to exist at the end of the year ?as one company?.
Schulz added that there was still a possibility that the company could be sold in parts and that the next few days would be crucial. He told us: ?We have no candidate with interest in the whole company right now? we are now going to look to see who is interested in parts of the company.?
