Adobe has unveiled major updates to its Photoshop, Lightroom and Lightroom Classic Creative Cloud apps, with a variety of new features and benefits for photographers.
The updates deliver new editing and usability enhancements to Photoshop on the web (beta) and leverage Adobe Sensei AI and machine learning to help to simplify complex workflows for creatives.
They are also designed to streamline cross-device collaboration workflows for Photoshop and Lightroom users working across desktop, web and mobile.
Photoshop: AI-powered additions
The AI-powered additions to Photoshop include Neural Filters, which use machine learning to help speed up your editing for tasks such as colourising black-and-white images, changing a subject’s expression or make-up transfers.
Photoshop on the web now has editing features such as Curves, Refine Edge, Dodge and Burn and Smart Objects conversion (which helps to aid non-destructive editing).
For those who haven’t worked with Photoshop before there is onboarding and learning content.
Adobe also unveiled a new Photo Restoration Neural Filter that helps users to bring old or damaged photos back to life by detecting and eliminating scratches and other imperfections.
The Lightroom ecosystem has been upgraded with features such as AI-powered Adaptive Presets for applying different effects to distinct parts of a photograph.
The Lightroom updates also include workflow enhancements for adjusting the intensity of presets, Auto Red Eye Removal, Premium Presets and and an expansion of the Remix capabilities to Lightroom mobile and web.
Lightroom also now supports video and you can copy and paste settings between photos and videos to give your work a distinctive look.
Photoshop on the web is available to anyone who already has a Photoshop subscription.
Adobe has said that a Photo Restoration Neural Filter will be, ‘coming soon to Photoshop on the desktop.’
The new releases of Lightroom and Lightroom Classic are available now and can be downloaded via the Creative Cloud Desktop app.
The updates to Lightroom mobile are being rolled out around the world from today and can be downloaded either from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.

Over 300 million Neural Filters have been applied to creative work by more than four million creatives to date.
Adobe today previewed a powerful new Photo Restoration Neural Filter designed to help users bring old or damaged photos back to life by detecting and eliminating scratches and other minor imperfections in seconds.
Adobe also announced updates to Photoshop on the web (beta) including:
